Responsibility. Take Some.

For the nation's rise and fall every citizen has a responsibility.
                                                                                                         -Chinese Proverb

I am curious.  Is this lack of responsibility which invades my society merely an American trait?  Are we the sole keepers of this decidedly unattractive character?

I see mothers and fathers who choose not to make their own living yet choose to take it from their government.  I see parents who choose to blame a school for their child's misdeeds.  I see workers who choose to grumble about the work they must do, because it's not their job.  I see people who want to help the needy, starving children, but choose to do nothing.

We choose to do nothing.

Why?

Do we feel as though we're better than responsibility?  Do we feel as though our bringing anything to this world is beneath us...that instead, the world should bring something to us?

Do we feel hopeless in our responsibility?  Is there nothing we can do to shape our children's thoughts and behaviors?  Will they be who they are, regardless of us?

Do we feel disengaged from the sphere outside of our own responsibility?  Are there actually living beings who live, comfortably or not, out of our own realms of vision?

I pray, pray, pray that the whole of humanity is irresponsible.  We can't let America take responsibility for this.  It's not our fault.

But it is.

It's my fault.
And it's your fault.

Regardless of why, we are responsible for this world.  We are responsible for this city.  This state and nation and continent and world.  This Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, they are our obligation.

How do we take on the load...... when we know not how?
